We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Jolayne, Aaron & Aislyn on the loss of Tag just yesterday.
He was one hell of a dog Jo & we will all miss him so very much.

Just in from Amanda......
IZZIE ran well all weekend and even though she only Q'd one run out of three, it was the last Q she needed for her AGILITY DOG OF CANADA TITLE!!
Way to Go!!

I also heard from Roberta......
It occurs to me that I am tardy in providing you with KARMAS update from the trial this weekend.
No Q's for us, but a good experience none the less. KARMA and I ran our very first challenge course in a trial last weekend, and did it clean! way over time (9.75 sec), ha ha ha, but without any off-courses or any equipment faults. So we will consider this a success.
KARMA was feeling off though on Saturday, and she seemed to have sore shoulders, so I pulled her on Sunday after the steeplechase run and I have been trying to give her a bit of a rest since then.
I hope that helps

MCKEELEY got a Q in Steeplechase.
TEA did awesome and got a Steeplechase Q and another Starters Standard which was her ADC title!! She had a great weekend going 5 out of 7 runs , on Saturday she got 2 Starters Standard Q’s and an Advanced Jumpers Q...
GG had an awesome run and her first agility Q in Starters Standard. So proud of the little squirrel, all her runs were great, focused and working hard : ) GG also won the JUDGES CHOICE AWARD for Starters!! Very proud

Lynn reports......
SOPHIE had 2 Q's out of 4 runs, both in Starters Standard.........AND she got her ADC Title after the first run, so second Q was a bonus!!
I was really pleased with her other 2 runs as well, she is coming along really well !!!
LUCY ran in three runs, with minor errors......even came close in a very difficult Gamblers.....it had 5 Q's in @ 80 runs!!!

I recieved some brags from Andrea......

Just wanted to brag a little bit for the Go Dog Go blog, at the 2X4 trial, ANDRE earned a Q in Adv. Jumpers, and CHARM came home with 4 Q ribbons - 2 Starter Std, an Adv. Gamble, and a Master Jumper. She earned her ADC title with those 2 starter runs. I was very pleased with her, she seems to be over her fear of chutes after her snarl-up and scare this summer.

TAYLOR and I were Q-less but not clueless at the 2x4 trial. There were a couple of very close Qs that were missed by a few seconds. Since this was our first trial running Masters Standard my goal was not to get lost on course and to keep TAYLOR focused and upbeat on these more difficult courses and we did achieve that!!

This last weekend at the 2X4 Trial WALKER earned two “Q’s” in Starters Standard and now has his AGILITY DOG OF CANADA TITLE and a “Q” in Starters Gamblers!!
All of his other runs were clean just have to work on our time.

Well we all survived the incredible heat & came home with lots of Q's & titles. I heard that the Go!Dog!Go! group won 22 new titles this weekend !!!
Here are some of the results that have come in so far......

Amanda 's WICCA came home with 4 Q's. 2 in Masters Standard & 2 in Master's Steeplechase. This gave her the BRONZE AWARD OF MERIT !!!!!
PIXEL came home with a Q in Masters Jumpers & Masters Snooker!!

Sarah's GYP ran 6/6 & all her Q's were 1st places! She earned her 25th Masters Jumpers Q to earn her EXPERT SILVER JUMPERS Title !!!!!
KALEB took Q's in Masters Gamblers, Masters Jumpers & Masters Steeplchase!!

It was a fun but hot weekend for the trial held at the gorgeous Spruce Meadows.

Andrea wrote to say that CHARM got her 3rd, plus a 4th bonus Q, to finish her Excellent Jumpers title!
ANDRE had a great time zooming around the ring but no Q's this time :)

Cindy's news ......

SUNAR got a Q in the Masters Standard 1 course. She ran really well and was fast. I think the speed may be related to her Back on Track coat. Not sure if it is because she is just happy to have it off or if it actually makes her feel really good. Actually I don't really care as long as it keeps her running fast. SUNAR'S bobbles were in one of the Standard courses she missed 2 contacts. My bobbles were timing and in one class missing an obstacle Duh!!!!.

Tammy's news......

All in all TAYLOR and I had a good weekend. I was a little bummed after our first run of the weekend as TAYLOR was very unfocused and ran off course several times. However, with each successive run she became more focused and we were able to complete courses with smaller time faults. Consequently, TAYLOR earned a Q on her last run of the weekend in starter jumpers. I am so proud of TAYLOR because I know she is trying. I just need to work harder at keeping her focused and happy about being out on the course. If I can do that, I know her times will improve. As always, a wonderful way to spend the weekend with my special girl and a great group of people.

TAG and I had an incredible weekend.... Friday night he ran both Steeplechase courses and ran clean and placed 3rd in both

Saturday - Master Gambler - 1st / Master Standard - 1st / Master Standard - 1st - AMAZING RUNS and NO BARS

Sunday - He didn't feel very good in the morning Standard run as his hamstrings were very tight.. I pulled him from the Snooker run and had the magical Sarah massage hands work on him which she gave him a great massage and he ran his Jumpers course clean with NO BARS :0) and then his stupid Mamma screwed him over on his final jumpers run :0)

We are so looking forward to Regionals ... and having great runs

Amanda's news......

WICCA was "on" this weekend and worked as a team with me. I am very proud of her. Nearly every run was beautiful- and she gave me her all. She came home with three Q's- a Standard, a Steeplechase, and a Snooker.

PIXEL is really coming into herself and has picked up her pace a bit. I was impressed with her focus, and consistency on course. Most of the issues on course were mine, not hers. Although we have some kinks to work out. :) She came home with two snooker Q's, and is in Masters Snooker now. :)

Jolene's news......

I had to pull TATE from the competition so I decided to enter KORT in FEO.
He competed in 2 snooker runs & 2 Jumpers runs.
KORT was such a good boy & ran his little heart out for me, I was one proud mom :)

At the PNE Trial in Balzac last w/e( May 21 & 22) LUCY had the best time ever!!!

...8 runs...8Q's........Masters Gamblers Title........ATChC!!!!!!........and, her Bronze Award of Merit!!!

There was nothing quite like the incredible feeling I had right after that Gamblers run...WOW!

Children's Festival 2011

On Saturday April 16, a bunch of the Go!Dog!Go! group, as well as other Lethbridge dog people, got together to participate in the Children's Festival. What a great time it was! All the dogs were at their best behaviour & the children , parents, as well as us had a fantastic time!

Trial Results, Olds, April 2,3 2011

Had a really fun weekend at Olds Agility trial. Both SUNAR and me had some brilliant moments and then some not so brilliant moments. Thanks to some of my friends at the trial (you know who you are) they helped me plan/ strategies a course and unknowingly to look a little silly. Besides keeping friends entertained (laughing at me) this sport has a way of keeping one humble.

2. Advanced Snooker and now moving up to Masters
3. Master Jumpers

Cindy sent in about her great weekend......

SUNAR had a great weekend. She ran fast and was successful on her running contacts..........thanks to 'the bowling barkley' move. The 'barkley' still feels funny but was much more comfortable than at the trial at the Fesdome. All in all SUNAR came home with 3 Q's - 2 in Advanced Standard and 1 in Master Jumpers. She also obtained her Title in Advanced Standard so now we are onto our next adventure into the big scary Master Standard. A little scary but also very exciting.

Jan & Dave had a good weekend as well......

STAR got her first Q ever in Starter's Standard. She had some great other runs, sticking her contacts and looking very happy. BB is on R&R just hanging out and looking cute.

PEARL had a Steeplechase Q. On Saturday she was rather tentative, but running with more speed on Sunday. She had a couple of clean runs but was too slow for Q's. Dave hopes having her cataract fixed on March 16th will give her a big boost of confidence and speed.

SNIPER had a great weekend...4 Q's... Advance Gambles Q (now moves up to Master Gambles), Steeplechase Q, and 2 Advance Standard Q's.

Roberta reports......

KARMA was entered into 3 events each day (2 standards and a jumpers on Saturday and 2 standards and a snooker on Sunday). We've moved up into the advanced level for everything except snooker, which is significantly harder than starters... ha ha ha. Which means that we only Q'd the one jumpers run. KARMA did really well though, she ran fast (for KARMA for the most part) and had fun which was our ultimate goal.

That is super Roberta, congratulations!!!

Andrea had a great weekend......

ANDRE did very well this weekend at Balzac, earned 3 Q's, which finished his ADC and Starter Game Dog titles. Best thing, though, was he worked with me, we were definitely a TEAM out there, and it was so much fun to run with him and trust that he's not going to shoot off somewhere and do his own thing. All his contacts were spot-on, even though I was releasing him early (I'll pay for that later, LOL). All his runs were very close, in his non-Q runs, it was only a bobble here or there, and of course, my fault. We had a blast!

Shauna & CHASE had a great weekend......

Chase and I had our best weekend ever!
While it may not have been with Qs...though we did get a first and Q in Master Jumpers and Master Snooker...we rocked the contacts! CHASE nailed 15 dog walk and A-frame contacts...yes 15, and yes I counted! Considering we usually missed them ALL, this was a huge deal for us!
So glad that our hard work is paying off, that I have great support, and friends who cheer us on!

Just in from Sarah ! ......

KALEB was amazing this weekend!!!! It was my last hurrah before my knee surgery and I had a blast. KALEB was only 1 of 8 dogs (out of 60) to Qualify in Challenge and Masters Gamblers. He ran 4/4 (Masters Gamblers, Challenge, Masters Standard and Masters Jumpers), whatta guy. These next few months will be hard not running Agility, but I ended on a high note, so that makes me happy!! I also got to run Blue Eye Skye in Masters Jumpers, we Qd - she a gorgeous Tri BC girlie ... so much fun, and I miss running Gyp so much, this sure helped!

Jan took BB in for her Master's Standard Q, as well as for the Master's Gamblers Q that gave BB the ATChC as well as her BRONZE AWARD OF MERIT !!!!!!!
Pearl was having an off weekend & didn't pick up any Q's, next time!!

He Q'd in Steeplechase on Sat. & then as Shauna puts it, "praise-be-to-dog" !...he finally got his last Starter's Standard Q!!!!

I also received this news from Cindy......
SUNAR had a really good weekend. We haven't trialed since mid September 2010 so I was very pleased. We have been training running contacts but have had trouble with her bailing off. Recently at training we started to tell her on the descent of a contact to 'Get it' and at the same time throw a container of food in front of her on the ground so that she would drive down to get the food instead of bailing off at the top of the contact. The funny thing about throwing the food is that the movement for me is much like bowling (rather odd), so has since been given the name' The Bowling Barkley Move'. Anyway, we managed to get 3 Q's out of 7 classes, with all of the other runs being run with good speed and no missed contacts, just little handling mistakes.

Susan writes that JERRY got a Q in Starters Jumpers on Sat. which moved him up to Advanced!

This also gave him his ADC title !!

Jenilee & NEENA entered 2 runs. They Q'd in Starters Jumpers on Sat. only to realize they should have been in Advanced, oopsy !

KALEB ran in all 7 runs, coming home with 5 Q's along with a couple of 1st places in a class of 12! Not bad for the old man huh :) !!!

ATChC BB!

Jan and BB are one of those teams that are a joy to watch. They are so well matched, and in tune with one another. It has been a long journey for them and lots of work has gone into creating the team they are now.

It is pretty incredible to watch them now and know where they started. BB was Jan's first agility dog and they learned about handling, and distance, and directionals, and all that stuff together. They have worked hard and have not only proved that practice makes perfect, but also that if you put your mind to something you can do it.

BB has been plagued with a shoulder injury off and on over the past few years which has made things difficult. There was a time when we weren't sure if she would run again. Jan also has had her own problems (damn those knees!), and they have overcome that to be back in the ring having a great time.

They earned their last needed Gamble Q on a tough course- Jan had to send BB over the dogwalk TWICE! in the mini, and then a tough closing gamble aswell. It was a fantastic run and gave me goosebumps. Our whole group erupted in cheers and celebration. It was pretty awesome.

We are so lucky to have such awesome students like Jan and BB. We are incredibly proud of their success. They are the perfect example of what Go Dog Go strives for. No matter the challenge- work hard, open your mind, and success will be yours.

Whoopin' it up in 2011!

Go! Dog! Go! will be performing at Whoop Up Days August 23rd - 27th, 2011, 2 shows daily and 3 on Saturday. We have fun events planned from Agility, to Disc demos, Freestyle, Carting and some other surprises!

Training Troop Agility Trial, January 15-16, 2011

The GO! DOG! GO! group headed to Calgary this past weekend & the results are coming in, as usual they rocked !, here are some of the reports......

Tammy's News......

TAYLOR and I had so much fun this weekend. I was completely blown away by how well she did. I love her to bits!! We entered in 7 events this weekend which is a significant increase from the last two trial in which we were entered in only 2 events each time. TAYLOR (and I) were definitely tried by Sunday but managed to still pull of good runs. Her contacts were really good. Need to work on confidence on the teeter and getting a more consistent correct entrance into the weave poles. However, once she made a good entrance she completed the weaves no problem. So for our results:
Gamble: missed a Q by 1/10 of a sec. TAYLOR was able to complete the main gamble with a little coaxing but the buzzer sounded just as she was taking the last jump.
Standard: Q 1st, 2nd and 4th round. So we are now in advanced standard-Yah!!
Snooker: had her first Q in this event. (I had vision of snooker at the Medicine Hat trial where we lasted all of 10 sec before hearing the dreaded whistle).

A big Thank-you goes out to all the Go Dog Go team members at the trial for all of their advise, encouragement and support. It means alot to us newbies!!

That is fantastic Tammy!, I don't think you can be called newbies anymore ! :)

KARMA was entered into the full weekend trial (8 events) which was a
big challenge for her as we had previously only ever entered in the
games. She was a very good girl but quite tired by the end of Sunday.
She got 3 Q's, 1 each in Starters Jumpers (she is in advanced now),
Snooker, and Standard (on the first run she's ever done in
competition!). She definitely had more "pep in her step" on Saturday
rather than Sunday though so we are working on some new games to keep
her motivated, she seems to enjoy one I call "the claw hand (aka attack
lab)" so I may have to accept the bruises on my hand/arm and let her be
bad ; )

KARMA also won the judges choice award for a spectacular bit of "table
surfing" where she launched herself onto the table with such vigor that
she brought it up onto 2 legs at a significant angle with some very
considerable hang time! She almost managed to pull it off to, because
she stuck with it and leaned back enough to get it back onto the ground
but then hopped off after it slammed back down. It was a really great
run though.

I managed to snag a "guaranteed spot" prize from the volunteer draw as
well which is pretty great, so all in all it was a successful weekend.

What a Great Weekend Roberta & Karma!!!

Jolayne & Tag had a wonderful weekend......

TAG was entered in 6 runs.....

He received 1st with a Q in Masters Gamblers ( 22" Regular )
He Q' in Steeplechase with Sarah running him and stuck his contact :0) I was pleasantly surprised as he was very high going to the line as his teeth were chattering he was so CRAZY …
He had 2 great Standard runs with just minor contact issues as these have been completely retrained since September 2010
We had an OK Jumpers run but we had a bar
But the best of the best was his amazing Standard run on Sunday afternoon… he was just an awesome boy with his contacts and held them which lead to our MAD award. A lot of work to get this run :0) but it will only get better

WICCA was a good girl but couldn't keep up those bars. :) She was her normal speedy self though, often just a second behind the border collies and kelpie. She did manage to bring home a Masters Gamblers Q
PIXEL was only entered in three events and did a great job- she is picking up speed and confidence. She earned an Advanced Snooker Q
BOONE tried hard but just couldn't stay focused. He had fun though- and that's half the battle!
The highlight of the weekend was Sarah running Wicca in the Challenge class- what a rush to watch!

Hurray for Wicca , Pixel & Boonie for being so brave !!!!

Sarah 's News......

KALEB was entered in 5 runs - he ran fast and spunky all weekend! He Q'd in Masters Gamblers and Masters Jumpers. Sarah was feeling sorry for herself since she couldn't run Gyp - but felt better after being able to run some awesome dogs: WICCA in Challenge - a gorgeous run, with just 2 knocked bars, and the 3rd fastest time of all dogs. I learned "French on the fly" when I handled Jo Gauthier's awesome Belgian - TEMPETE for 2 runs, and we even Qd in Jumpers!! I was thrilled to run Jan Connelly's, BB in Jumpers, and we also Qd - what a fun little go getter she is! I ran Jo Farn's, TAG in Steeplechase, what a rush that was to have him stick his A-frame and fun so well for me! Gyp had fun hanging out and making friends :)

Dr. Devall is available Saturday, Jan 29th to come back to Lethbridge to work on dogs and present another lecture.

This months lecture at 9am that day will be: Common Injuries in Performance Dogs - Injuries that are pertinent to all performance dogs not just agility dogs. For example - neck injuries/chiropractic subluxations/disc herniations in obedience dogs, herding dogs.

The cost for treatments will be the same group rate of $160 for a session GST INCLUDED (as compared to seeing her in Calgary for $250)

Christmas Party

Friday night was the annual Go!Dog!Go! Christmas party. What a wonderful time we all had, there was lots of food, lots of laughs, & lots & lots of stealing !
We had a name the puppy contest & it was harder then I thought it would be. We all got together & helped each other out though, don't tell Sarah or Amanda !
The highlight though had to be the gift exchange. The rules allowed us to "steal" another gift if we chose to do so. It was all in fun & everyone were great sports, we must have learned that playing agility :))
All I can say is what a fantastic group of people we have in our club & I'm so grateful they are my friends.

OK, OK, I know I didn't update as promised!!!!

We were so busy it was impossible to update, you'd think having at National in our backyard, would make it easier, NOPE! Way more difficult! Serious lack of sleep going on! Jan & Dave were part of the Organizing Committee and Jolayne helped train Volunteers.

Here are some group shots! Everyone ran great and came home with ribbons!!! Over 640 dogs from Canada and the US ... it was truly amazing! Gorgeous venue, great Agility, what could be better?

Dave & Pearl, Jan & BB, Star who wanted to be in the photo, Lynne & Lucy, Jo & Tag, Sarah with K-man & Gyppie

I don't have all the specifics YET, but everyone earned a Top 10 placement in either Steeplechase or an Individual event, so nobody went home empty handed, which is wonderful!

Pearl (10" Specials) ran great! 3 Clean runs I think and 1 or 2 individual placements!

BB (6" DD Vets) came home with a couple placements too!!

Lucy (16" DD Vets), ran 3 Clean Runs and earned 1 or 2 Individual placements in Jumpers in a class of 56 dogs!

Tag (22" Reg), Ran wonderfully, only a bar in most runs, he also placed 7th/94 in his second Steeplechase run wow! He rocked his second Day gamble too!

Kaleb (16"DD Vet), Kaleb ran in the Pre-qualifier and ran 4/4 clean - he had enough points in 4 runs (410 points) and didn't have to run all 6 to get the points!! He competed in the big event over the weekend, knocked a bar in almost each run, but the clean run he had he eraned 9th/56 in his Standard. Whatta boy!

Gyp (16" Specials), Placed 3rd Overall!!! She had 4 class placements, 1 -1st Jumpers, 2 - 2nds Standard and Gamblers and a 3rd in Gamblers!

CKC Agility News!

It was a great weekend for the Go! Dog! Go! group who took part in the CKC Trials this past weekend.

Cindy and Sunar debuted in Intermedieate and brought home 2 JWW Qs and a Standard Q!

Kim and Bosley ran great in Excellent and brought home 2 JWW Qs - he was only one of 2 dogs to qualify in the tough Excellent JWW course! He also earned and a Standard Q.

Daryl and Betty came home with 6Qs! 2 standard 4 jww Q's earning both her Novice Titles! in Daryl's words .... Betty ROCKED.

Judy and Roxy also had a great weekend, earning both her Novice Titles too! She earned 5Qs all with 100's.

Julia and Mckeely ran also and had some nice runs!! Tea was in season and had to watch from the sidelines, but she'll be in the ring again soon!

A few of us attended the AB/NWT Agility Regionals this weekend in Edmonton, we came home with lots of Ribbons and Hardware .... Our entire group brought home individual placements and we are excited to compete at Nationals in Spruce Meadows in August. We all made the Steeplechase finals too!

*****I'm still waiting for a few details from some people, but thought I'd post it anyway- check back for final details*****

A whole group of us headed to Medicine Hat for the weekend. Despite less than ideal weather everyone had a spectacular weekend!

The weather was really awful and it rained continuously from 8 in the morning until well past bedtime on Saturday. Sunday was much better although windy and cold in the morning. Our big tent bit the dust on Saturday night, but we improvised and mostly everyone was able to squish in with Lynn and Ray.

On to the results!

Lucy had a good weekend and came home with one Q - Masters Jumpers; but several very near misses( time wise), and Lucy was running SO well!

Stoker achieved his MAD! (Masters Agility Dog) He had a fabulous weekend and came home with 4 Qs!!!!!
Sniper was a very good boy and had some really nice runs. He came home with 4 Qs!!! Standard, Jumpers, Gamblers and Snooker.
Nitro had his debut in Jumpers and entertained us all with his antics. Apparently no one has ever told him that jumping on the laps of the timer/scribe isn't really what agility is all about!

It was a great weekend from Shauna and Chase...4 Qs in one weekend is more than average. 2 in Steeple Chase, 1 in Advanced jumpers (which moved us up to Masters - Yikes!) and 1 in Advanced Gamblers. Just think what they could have done if they had contacts!!!!!!

Sarah and Gyp had an awesome weekend and ran 7 for 9. Gyp was ON, and Sarah had no problem with her new brace. She Q'd in All 3 Standards, Gamblers, both Jumpers and Steeplechase!
Kaleb also had a great weekend and was his normal goofy self. He didn't mind the rain at all, and in fact seemed to run faster! He Q'd in 4 out of 6 runs-a Standard (#48), Jumpers, Gamblers, and Steeplechase.

Kelsee and Toni had a good weekend too. Kelsee was a good girl and tried very hard to stay focused. Toni did a great job keeping her happy, and up.

The Berners also enjoyed the cool rainy weather- they weren't phased at all by the temperature or the rain! Maggie earned the last leg needed for her Advanced Agility Dog of Canada title! Bosley was a good boy and and got an Advanced Standard Q, and a Gamble Q!

Jolayne did an awesome job with Tag and earned the most Q's ever in one weekend.
Friday they had an amazing Master Challenge run with just one tiny hiccup.
They earned four q's- a masters standard, snooker, and jumpers Q on Saturday, and a Gambler Q on Sunday. This team has come a very, very long way.

Judy and Roxy had a really great weekend. Every run was great! She Q’d in Starters Standard, Snooker and Steeplechase and also Q’d in Jumpers.

Cindy and Sunar were superstars and came away with 4 Q's! A standard, snooker, jumpers, and a gamblers! Sunar earned her Agility Dog of Canada title, and her Starters Game Dog Title. Sunar is now in Advanced everything! Go Sunar!

Betty and Daryl did a great job. She even ran in the rain! She had a smoking fast jumpers run, and was the fastest in her class I believe! She also...

Julia and the Weim girls had a good weekend despite the weather. The girls did not appreciate the table that doubles as a puddle on saturday. They had great moments though
Tea Q'd in Starters Jumpers and Gambler. She held all her contacts on Sunday! Mckeely Q'd in Adv Jumpers. Very close in Gamblers with Amanda running her and it was fun to watch. Finished last run with no Q but she was happy!
GG the Cavalier ran in two events and didn't get a Q, but had a great time and managed to stay pretty focused! Lots if improvement!

Andrea had a good weekend with her two-
Charm had 3 qualifying runs, in Starters - 1 Standard, 1 Jumper, and 1 Gambler (88 points!!)
and Andre had 2 qualifying runs, in Starters - 1 Jumper, 1 Gambler, he was 'oh-so-close' in his second jumpers, until he was sent to the wrong tunnel mouth... :)

Amanda had a great weekend with her dogs. Pixel ran 4/4 and now moves to Advanced Jumpers! (eek!) Pretty amazing for her second ever "trial." Wicca was mostly a good girl and was not only listening but trying hard to keep the bars up. She came home with two Q's- Steeplechase, and Gamblers. Vito came out to play and had a great time. He didn't Q but came pretty close!.

That is *50+ Qualifying runs for Go Dog Go students in one weekend! Pretty cool eh?

Someone approached me this weekend and said that we must be doing something right.
I agree. Congrats to everyone on a great weekend!

A small group of us headed up for the Agility Trial this weekend, and what a great time.

One of the highlights was our now traditional pizza party and wine drinking extravaganza. 5 girls, 2 pizzas and 2 bottles of wine.

oh right, the agility results....

Debbie and Stoker ran great, and he earned 3 Q's :

- Master Gamble (WOW), Steeplechase and Master Standard.

- Sniper was entered in 3 games classes and wow, he is getting so focused, confident and FAST!!

Kim had a great weekend with her dogs (and a loaner dog)

- Maggie - Advanced Gamblers Q now moves to masters)! and an Advanced Standard Q

- Bosley - Starters Gamblers Q (moves to Advanced) and his Starters Game Dog Title!

- Kim stepped up to batfor Sarah and ran Gyp in Masters Jumpers and got a 1st and Q!

Cindy and Sunar ran great too, and just had a few faults here and there in there runs, but really well done!!

Judy and Roxy came up for one day and ran in 3 classes. Roxy was smokin fast and just had 5 faults in her runs, she is looking really good! And was sooo close to getting her Snooker!

Jo and Tag had a great weekend, they got their first Masters Challenge Q with a first place to boot! They also Q'd in Masters Snooker with time to spare! They had some wonderful runs and were recognized by the judge and chosen as Judges Choice for the weekend!

Sarah ran Gyp and Kaleb in a few classes.

- Gyp ran great, and Qd in Masters Gamblers, Steeplechase, Masters Standard and Challenge. And Jumpers with Kim!!

- Kaleb was feeling spunky and Qd in 2 of his 4 runs, Masters Standard and Masters Snooker.

Cindy, Jan and Dave headed up to Olds for the Cancer fundraiser One Day Trial this past weekend and they all had a great day!

Cindy and Sunar got their 2nd Starters Standard Q and their 2nd Starters Jumpers Q, and now move to Advanced WOW! Congrats!

Jan and BB rocked the Gamble with 58 opening points AND got the end Gamble Q on not an easy Gamble!! They also Qd in a hard Snooker course!

Dave and Pearl ran a clean Jumpers and Qd, and had a couple their nice runs but were just over time by a little bit, but he was happy with how she was running!

ALSO a few weeks ago Kim and Bosley finished their "Excellent Jumpers with Weaves" CKC Title and got a couple Excellent Standard Qs too boot! Way to go!

Great job Everyone!!! This weekend a few of us are off to the Paws N Effect Trial in Balzac, stay tuned for results!!

It was a small contingent this time of Go Dog Go people but we all had a great time.

The biggest news of the weekend was that Sarah was able to run her dogs!!!! She even ran her dogs well enough to earn the second most important news of the weekend- Gyp earned her SILVER Award of Merit!!!! Woohooo! This is a HUGE deal and not many dogs get there. Huge congrats to sarah! Gyp also Q'd in two standard runs.

Kaleb earned a much needed Masters Gamblers Q, and was good boy in his other three runs.

Lucy had a great weekend too and earned a Masters Standard Q, and a Masters Snooker Q. She nearly had the gamble too (see video below)

Cindy did a great job with Sunar and is getting more and more confident. She earned a Starters Gamble Q- which puts her up to Advanced Gamblers at the next trial! And she earned another standard Q. She only needs one more for her Starters title!

Amanda's dogs were naughty. :o)

I still have to post the results from the January trial...and I will- everyone needs to send me their results again!

Baby Pike, Cindy's new addition.

Maggie celebrated her fifth birthday by moving to Veterans (16" jumps!!!!) and earned a Masters Snooker Q!!! Way to go Maggie!

Betty earned a Starters Snooker Q, and moved to Advanced Snooker on Sunday! She got her first Starters standard Q aswell. They also did a great job with the gamble on Saturday, but were short 4 points for the Q...

Sunar earned a Jumpers Q on Saturday, and had a beautiful Standard run on Sunday earning her frist Standard Q!!!

Jovi came just for the sunday and did a fabulous job! No Q's- but a great effort! Her weaves are amazing, and Marsha did a great job of handling her.

Betty, Sunar and Jovi are very new to trialing and are doing just great and we are so proud of them!

and the biggest surprise of all? Wicca earned not one, but TWO Snooker Q's! She went 4/5 this weekend which is very, very good for her.

The Last Agility Trials of the Year ...

November Calgary Agility

Jolayne and Tag had some awesome runs! What a great team they are becoming, Tag earned his way into Masters SNooker with his 3rd Advanced Snooker Q on a difficult course!

Kim ran Maggie and Bosley

Maggie had some great moments out there! She hurt her self on Saturday so was pulled, and after an adjustment from the Chiro, she was back to her self, running for 2 more runs on Sunday.

Bosley had a great weekend, we Qd in both Starters Jumpers (now moves to Advanced), he also Q in Starters Gamblers, and Starters Snooker (now moves to Advanced) and earned his Starters Title! Way to go!

Kaleb ran well considering he spent the week hunting. In Kaleb style he made Sarah work for every run, and brought home 5 Qs, 2 Masters Jumpers, 1 Masters Gamble, 2 Masters Standards

Jan, Dave and BB and Pearl had a good weekend!

BB Had a nice Steeplechase run, but ended up getting pulled for the rest of trial as she was not feeling like her usual spunky self.

Pearl had a super fast runs and Dave handled her really well, she had some nice placements, and came home with a Steeplechase and Standard Q

Amanda ran Wicca and Boone

Wicca ran great and only had a couple bars all weekend. She also earned her EXG Bronze for her 10th Masters Gamble! She also had the FASTEST time in Steeplechase!!

Boone earned his ADVANCED Games Dog Title with a Q in Snooker! He also got his first Steeplechase Q! He had some wondferul runs!

Lynne and Lucy had some wonderful runs in Masters, and Lucy's A-Frame has really improved, they are a great team!

Sarah ran Gyp and Kaleb

Gyp earned her EXG Bronze for her 10th Masters Gamble, also earning her her VBA Award. As well she also earned a Jumpers Q and 3 Masters Standard Qs.

Kaleb had a great weekend and kept his energy up until the end. He brought home 2 Qs in Masters Standard and a Q in Jumpers and Snooker.

Calgary Agility One Day Trial

Calgary Agility Hosted an One Day Agility Trial on Sunday.

a couple newbies and the old stand-bys attended.

Cindy and Su'nar ran in 2 Starters classes. They had a GREAT opening gamble and got both mini-gambles, they were so close to the closing gamble but Sunar went too far! It was a great run! Su'nar was wild on her jumpers course, and they had a blast!

Jenilee and Neena also ran in 2 Starters classes. Neena ran great, got both her mini gambles, finished the end gamble and that is their first Q!!!!!! Congrats! Neena has a some great moments in her jumpers course, and Jenilee was really happy with her progress!

Dave and Jan ran Pearl and BB, got her Masters Standard Q as well as her Masters Jumpers Q. And she was raring to go all day.

Pearl was a little tentative in her first indoor trial of the year, but pulled through to the end!

Amanda ran Wicca and Boone, Boone was a superstar as usual, and made his Masters Gamblers debut with a Q!!! He had a great Standard run ... even with Amanda not walking it first! He also Qd in Advanced Jumpers and now moves to Masters!

Wicca ran great too. She Q'd effortlessly in Masters Gamblers, it was her 10th Masters Gamblers 1st and Q for her ExBrGambler title! She a nice Standard run for a Q and a really nice Masters Jumpers run, with just one bar!! Amanda was also happy with how she handled the challenge course.

Jolayne and Tag, got their first Q in Masters Standard and placed 1st! They debuted in Masters Gamblers in style and got the Q and a 1st Place! Jo was pretty proud of how she handled the challenge course, and had one bar in her Jumpers round.

Sarah ran Gyp and the K-man, Gyp ran great, she 1st and Qd in Masters Gamblers. She also ran a nice Standard run and 1st and Q'd. She was only 1 of 3 dogs to Q in the Challenge course. Her jumpers run was the fastest of the day, but she had a bar.

K-man ran really well and Q'd in Masters Gamblers and Masters Standard.

Flashing Canines Agility Weekend

What a great weekend at the Flashing Canines Agility Trial, our group brought home over 40 Qs!

There were lots of debuts by our students! Most of them ran in 3 or 4 runs over the weekend.

Betty and Darryl placed in all of their classes, and to top it of Betty brought home 2 Q's, one in Starters Snooker and Starters Jumpers!

Roxy and Judy ran in 3 classes, and Roxy had just 5 faults in her standard and Jumpers rounds.

Sniper and Debbie placed 1st in Starters Gamblers, 3rd in Starters Snooker.

Neena and Jenilee placed 2nd in Gamblers and 2nd in Starters Snooker

Bosley and Kim brought home 2 - 1st and Qs in Starters Standard, a 1st and Q in Starters Snooker

Lucy and Heather placed 2nd in Starters Gamblers and 3rd in Starters Snooker

Jovi and Marsha placed 1st and Q in Starters Gamblers and placed 3rd in Starters Snooker

The rest of the gang did great too!!

Lucy and Lynne placed 1st and Qd in Steeplechase, and had some other nice runs throughout the weekend with some nice placements.

Stoker and Debbie 1st and Qd in Steeplechase, 2 - 1sts and Qs In Advanced Gamblers, 1st and Q in Advanced Snooker, Q in Masters Snooker, 1st and Q in Advanced Jumpers. Stoker also got his Advanced Games Dog Title!! Way to go!

Jazmin and Judy came up for the day Qd in 3 of 3 runs! She Qd in Masters Standard, Q Masters Jumpers, Q Advanced Snooker. Way to go!

Dave and Jan's Pearl and BB did great too.

BB 2nd and Q in Masters Standard, and only one of 3 dogs to Q in the Challenge class!

Pearl 1st and Q in Masters Standard, Q in Masters Snooker, Q in Masters Jumpers, Q in Steeplechase. She also racked up some new titles! EX Bronze Jumpers (10 Jumpers Qs), EX Bronze Standard (10 Standard Qs), and her Masters Snooker Dog of Canada Title! WOW!! Congrats!

Tag and Jolayne brought home a 1st and Q in Advanced Gamblers and some other great top 3 placements in his classes too.

Maggie and Kim ran in 6 runs. Maggie placed 1st and Qd in BOTH Advanced Snookers, a 2nd an Q in Advanced Standard, and a 2nd and Q in Advanced Gamblers.

Amanda's gang also did great.

Boone brought home a 1st and Q in Advanced Standard, 1st and Q in BOTH Advanced Gamblers and now moves to Masters! Placed 1st and Q in Advanced Snooker too.

Wicca brought home a Masters Gamblers Q and Qd with the FASTEST time in Steeplechase of all the dogs!

Andrea did great with her guys too.

Andre got his end Gamble but ran out of time! He also made some great progress in his other runs over the weekend too!

We headed to Kimberley B.C. for their Annual Trial. It is always a great one!

Our group had some great runs, and brought home a lot of Q's in the process.

Let's start with Cindy and Sunar, who made their Debut!!

Sunar ran in 4 classes. She Q'd in Snooker and only had 5 faults in her Jumpers round. She had LOTS of points in her Gamble too. They looked like pros out there! Congrats!

Amanda's gang rocked!

Boone came home with 6 Q's and 2 Titles!! He earned his (ADC) Agility Dog of Canada Title, as well as his Starters Games dog Title!

Wicca has gone MAD!! Masters Agility Dog of Canada, that is!! It was a GREAT run to earn that title on too! Wicca also brought home a Masters Snooker Q. Way to go!

Lynne and Lucy also went MAD this weekend!! WOW What an accomplishment! She also got a Q in Masters Snooker! Congrats!

Jolayne and Tag had some smokin' fast runs, he earned a Q in Advanced Gamblers with 98 points!

Sarah's gang ran great too!

CKC Agility Weekend

A few GDG people headed off to an Edmonton CKC trial for the long weekend and everyone has great news to report!

Julia's Weimeraner Mckeely earned her Excellent Standard title! It has been a long time coming, and we are all very proud of the great team they have become! She is one Jumpers Q away from her Excellent jumpers title aswell!

Kim had a phenomenal weekend with her berners-

Maggie earned an Intermediate Standard Q, AND an Excellent JWW Q! She had a good weekend, and only had a few pokey runs.

Bosley had a great weekend and finished his Intermediate title, and is now in Excellent everything in CKC! He had some really amazing runs, and everyone was very impressed with him.

I had a good weekend with Wicca- we finished her Novice Jumpers title, and now only need one Q for her Novice Standard title. It was a great weekend for her to be able to run simple courses and really open up. The extra 2 inches to her jump height did her in on every course except for two. But I was pleased with her anyway- no off courses, great contacts, weaves, and handling on my part- just one knocked bar!

There aren't many CKC trials around here, but it was worth the trip to Edmonton- a nice small trial, easy courses, and visiting with friends!

Agility Demo for the Humane Society

The Lethbridge Humane Society asked us to do an Agility demo after their Annual Dog Jog. It was a great day! We had some fun little courses, a Team relay, and a 24 weave pole challenge!

Tag ran great. Jo was amazing with her ring nerves, wow. For a team who ran their FIRST regionals, and then their first National, they were GREAT. They looked like pros out there, and they held there own among the other competitors. We are very proud of you BOTH!!!!!

The had WICKED Gamble opeings 50+ points, Jo was so proud of how he ran, the biggest class at the event. A shining moment for Tag and Jo was his Steeplechase, he had the 15th fastest time of 112 dogs!! He also got a Q!!

Congrats to everyone from Alberta on a great showing!!!!!

Saturday Update

We just got back from the worst banquet ever, and I am too tired, and cranky to blog about the results of the day.

Except. We all kicked ass (mostly) and all had a great day.

Tag had an awesome Gamble opening and racked up tons of points. He missed the end gamble by a tunnel. :o) His Standard was good- and there was some really great parts. He had a bar or two I think. His jumpers was a little wild. It again had some pretty moments, but mostly Jo wants to forget about it.

Kaleb did great. He ran clean in Jumpers and Standard, and had a great Gamble opening, but didn't get the end gamble. His Jumpers run was beautiful, and he never stepped one foot out of line.

Gyp had a great day too- her Gamble was breathtaking and she had no problem with the end gamble. Her Jumpers run was flawless. Her standard run was beautiful- except for the first two obstacles. She had a little melt down before she went in to the ring and Sarah had to work extra hard to keep Gyp from being nervous. Thankfully, Gyp recovered and the rest of the run was gorgeous.

Wicca had an awful start to her day. Apparently it is a tradition to have a FIVE POINT run at Nationals. She was completely wild, and did not listen to me. It was rough. She redeemed herself with the gamble, although still had weave issues. She got the gamble though, but had an average opening. Her standard run at the end of the day was awesome. We had two bars, although only got called for one. It was a great run though, and a great way to end the day.

The banquet was a bust. Seriously. :o) It sucked. But the company was good- our table was fun, and we mostly had a good time. :o)

Steeplechase

Tag and Jo had a great day today- it was a chance to work out some kinks, and get into the flow of it. Their first Steeplechase had lots of great moments- his contacts, his listening, and his weaves are rock solid. Jo had a moment and forgot where she was going. Which cost them 10 faults. The second run was awesome. He was perfect. Jo was perfect, it was a beautiful thing to watch. He had one bar, and placed 15th out of 112 dogs!!! Wowsers!

Sarah and Gyp also had a fantastic day. Gyp was on, and Sarah did a great job directing her around the course. Their first run of the day was perfect. She slipped twice around corners (out of the weaves, and a tunnel) but recovered and ran her little heart out. She placed 3rd in her class with a qualifying score.

The second run was even better, and Sarah really gave it- Gyps performance proved that running hard makes a big difference. She placed 2nd, and of course Qualified.

Wicca and I had lots of fun. It was nice to feel that connection, and I was confident in my handling abilities. The first steeplechase was brilliant. It was smokin' fast, and she kept all the bars up. We had a missed weave entry, which only costs time, and placed 1st, and Qualified (which could be her steeplechase title...) The second run was also very good- our lines were smooth and tight. I caused a knocked bar with a late front cross, and she knocked the second last bar. Even with the 10 faults we qualified, and placed 4 th in our class.

Tonite was the Nationals Opening Ceremonies. It was pretty nice, although really long. We did a cute little parade of provinces, and the Alberta crowd was as rowdy as ever. At the end of the ceremonies the steeplechase finalists were called out. Wicca placed 1ST!!!! And will get to run in the steeplechase finals on Sunday for cash money. Gyp also qualified for the finals, placing 2nd in a very competitive class. Sarah and I got cool green shirts to wear Sunday afternoon, and it adds some more excitement to an already exciting weekend.

Today was a really long day, and we are all beat- tomorrow will be even longer, but as always we'll have a report of our day in the evening.

Fun and Games in Ottawa ....

This photo is from yesterday on Parliament Hill. Besides getting caught in 2 flash floods, it was great! The dogs had a great time meeting and greeting people.

We stopped at a Cafe down at the Byward market and had lunch with the dogs.

Today Jo and Amanda went for their Warm-up runs. Tomorrow we do more warm-up and Steeplechase ... stay tuned!

At lunch we went and had a picnic on Bate Island and took the dogs for a nice walk and swim on the Ottawa River. Pete and Aaron are fishing today so we took them lunch, and off they went ....

The photos are not in any order- the connection we have here is not very good, and it was very painful to upload the pics I did. There are others I wanted to share, but they will have to wait until I have more patience, or the stupid connection gets better.

Regardless, here is a quick peek at our day...

We had a great day today- we spent the majority of the day downtown Ottawa. We went to Parliament Hill and toured around. It is quite beautiful and the buildings sure make you feel small. It was cloudy and overcast most of the day, and we had two flash flood storms. The rain came down in buckets, and we took shelter in the "Senators" entrance way to the Parliament Building.

After Parliament hill we went down to Byward Market and looked at all the little shops. We saw lots of interesting people, and the dogs were very well behaved in the crowds of people.

Before dinner Jolayne, Sarah and I went down to the Nationals site. It is huge, and a little overwhelming. It is very beautiful, and appears to be very well organised. Tomorrow Jo and I go and run a warm up run, and then we'll spend the rest of the day touring around again.

Ottawa Day 2

We had a great day today- we took the dogs down to "Bark And Fitz" a fancy dog store- the dogs got yummy frozen yogurt, and we had fun looking at all the over priced specialty items.

We went for a drive after and found a great little park right on the Ottawa River. The dogs had a chance to play in the water, and chase the ducks. :o) Wicca and Gyp also discovered the squirrels and were super obsessed with them for the rest of the walk.

Aaron, Jolayne, and Tag arrived safe and sound. Tag was a little stressed, but was back to normal after a quick play with Gyp. The boys (as in Aaron and Pete) have been drinking pretty much since then, and have been quite the entertainment. We just got back from a nice walk to the liquor store. :o)

Tomorrow is the day of serious sight seeing, we are going to Parliament Hill, and downtown Ottawa. Of course, that's providing the boys can walk tomorrow after all the beer....

Our Home for the Week

Sara, Pete, and I arrived in Ottawa yesterday afternoon. The flight was uneventful, and the dogs handled the plane with no issues. They travel like pros now!!! It is warm and muggy here. We are slowly adjusting to the feeling of melting. It is icky. Ottawa is a beautiful place though, and we are looking forward to checking out some museums, the parliament thingy, and some other local touristy attractions.

We are all settled into our "dorm room" at Algonquin College. It is more than enough space for all of us, and the dogs are already calling it home.

We haven't done much in the way of sight seeing or anything yet, so I thought I'd entertain you all with a tour of our Home for the week.

AAC Nationals Trip 2009

Three members of Go Dog Go are making the trip to Nationals- this year it is being held in Ottawa, Ontario.

Jolayne and her border collie Tag are first timers, me (Amanda) and Wicca, and Sarah and Gyp and Kaleb.

We are staying together, and Jo and Sarah are bringing along their significant others. It should be quite the adventure!

The Event itself starts on Friday, July 31st and goes until Sunday. Sarah, Pete, and I are flying out on Monday the 27th to give the dogs a few days to get used to the place, and Jo, Aaron and Tag are flying out on Tuesday.

We will be updating this blog regularly while we are away if you want to see what we are up to!

We'll be posting photos, stories, and of course results!

Go Dog Go cleaned up this weekend. Wow. Our students kicked some serious butt, and we are VERY proud of everyone. Great Job guys! Great Job.

And had a total aggregate score of 370!! Pearl was lovin' those 10 inch jumps!!

BB - 10" Vets:
Also placed 7th overall in her class. She had a total of 317 points.
BB's gamble on Saturday was fantastic and we are all very proud of her and Jan!!

Lucy - 22" Specials:
Jumpers- 3rd on Sat
Jumpers- 4th on Sun
Gamblers 4th on Sun
For a final 5th place in her group, with a Qualifying Score of 351. something!!

And Maggie - 22" Specials - she worked very well in the heat. For a big black dog who is fussy about that sort of thing she did great. She is just back from a long, long break, and did very well despite that!

We are very, very proud of everyone this weekend!!! Great Job Guys!

Now, who wants to go to Ottawa??!!!!!

Thank you to all of our volunteers. 70 people donated their time to come and sit in the hot sun. Wow! You guys rock. We couldn't have done it without you all. Everyone played an important role, and we appreciate it so much!

Thank you to the competitors! This relaxed atmosphere was due mostly to you! Everyone was friendy, supportive, and it was nice to see everyone in alberta come together at such an event. The runs were amazing, and we should all be so proud of our dogs, and ourselves.

We are back outside for the summer! We had a Fun Match on Sunday for our group, and it was a nice way to wrap up the Indoor Arena season. It was topped off by a Pizza and Beer party courtesy of the Arena owner, how great is that!

Jan, Dave and the Sheltie girls, BB and Pearl, headed to Olds for the Cancer Fundraiser one day Trial.

BB got Q's in Standard, Team and Steeplechase. BB won the dash for cash in the Veteran mini dogs!! Way to Go! Pearl got her Qs in Team and Steeplechase.

Sarah headed up to Calgary last weekend for the One Day Trial for 4 runs with Gyp and Kaleb.

They each Q'd in all 4 runs, Steeplechase x 2, Standard and Snooker:

Gyp got her last Standard needed for her Bronze Award of Merit (10 Masters Standards, 25 Masters Games), she also completed the Snooker with 4 - 7's!!

Kaleb got his last Q needed for his Steeplechase Title!

Weekend Agility News!

Training Troop hosted their March St. Patty's Day trial this past weekend, here are the results:

BB went MAD this weekend (Masters Agility Dog of Canada Title)!!! And then added another Standard Q! She is loving running in the Vet class!! Congrats BB and Jan! Despite Jan taking a fall on the ice, she pulled through and didn't show her pain while running BB!

Pearl got Masters Standard, Steeplechase and Snooker Qs. They had some other great runs too! Congrats Dave and Pearl! Dave was really proud of her progress with the ring crew too!

Boone just keeps getting better! He got his second Starters Standard Q, and also got a 1st and Q in Advanced Jumpers! Amanda is really proud of his progress!

Wicca got four Q's and four 1sts in her height class: Standard, Gamblers, Team Steeplechase. She ran great all weekend, and only had 2 bars down!

Gyppie also came home with 4 Qs and four 1sts in her class: Gamblers, Team, Jumpers, and Snooker.

Kaleb thinks being a Veteran rocks! He came home with 7Qs in 8 classes. Master Standard 1 & 3, Gamblers, Steeplechase, Jumpers, Team, and Snooker. What a good boy! He also broke 100 Qs in AAC this weekend to top it off!

Agility Weekend News

Calgary Agility hosted their Family Day Trial this weekend.

Jan, Dave and Lynne went up for the whole weekend, and Julia and Sarah went up for the just Sunday.

Pearl and Dave ran great, and she brought home Qs in Master Jumpers, Masters Standard (a really nice run), Masters SNooker, and Masters Team with their partners BB & Jan.

BB Qd with Jan in Masters Jumpers, and Team with Pearl and Dave, and she had a great gamble - lots of points AND got the end gamble .... but the last bar came down, but hey she did it!

Lucy and Lynne had a super weekend! Lucy got her third Advanced Gamble Q, and now moves to Masters, she also Qd in BOTH Masters Jumpers as well a Masters Standard!

McKeely was full of beans, and had some awesome handling moments by Julia, McKeely looked great and was super FAST, and had great tunnels too!

Gyppie and Sarah ran 3 classes, and Gyp brought home Qs in Masters Jumpers and Masters Standard, she ran clean in Team too, but her partner had a bobble, it was still a nice run!

Kaleb ran in 3 classes too, and Qd in all three, Masters Jumpers, Masters Team and Masters Standard.

First Trial of the Year!

What a weekend at Training Troop!

Jan, Dave, Lynne, Jolayne, Sarah and Amanda made the trip to Calgary this weekend. Even though Jolayne, Sarah and Amanda (and 7 dogs) got stranded in Fort Macleod over night because the roads were so bad, we still go there on Saturday Morning :) READ ON AMANDA'S BLOG We missed gamblers, but managed to get there for the rest of the classes!

BB debuted as a Veteran and Qd in 3 of her runs! Qd in Steeplechase, Masters Standard and Masters Jumpers, way to go Jan and BB!

Pearl did great too! She Qd in Standard (her best run ever according to Dave!) and Masters Jumpers, she was really confident all weekend and Dave handled her great!

Lucy was a superstar! She got a Q in Advanced Gamblers, 2 Qs back to back in Advanced Standard to finish her AADC (Advanced Agility Dog Title)!!! She also Qd in Advanced Snooker! Way to go Lynne and Lucy!

Tag was great too, a real showstopper :) has anyone ever seen a dog jump OVER a 22" table without touching it? No one there had :) The judge wasn't even sure how to fault it!! Jo had some wonderful runs with him. Sunday morning Jo got sick, so Sarah stepped in and ran Tag in Steeplechase and he Q'd! With the second fastest time of all the dogs entered!! Jo and Tag were also chosen as the Judge's Choice Awesome Advanced Team for the weekend! Way to go guys!

Sarah had all three dogs entered:
Jane Qd in 3 of her 4 runs, Masters Standard, Masters Jumpers and Masters Snooker! She had a blast!

Gyppie Q in 5 of her 7 runs, she Qd in all three of her Masters Standard runs, as well as Masters Team (with Wicca) and Masters Snooker

Kaleb also Qd in 5 of his 7 runs, and it was his Veterans Debut too! He Qd in: Masters Standard, Masters Jumpers, Steeplechase, Masters Team and Masters Snooker, and with that he now has his Silver Award of Merit! He needed 4 games to get his SIlver, and he got them ALL this weekend, which was such a nice surprise! (Silver Award of Merit is 25 Masters Standards and 50 Masters Games) What a boy he is!! He is also the FIRST Flat-coated Retriever in Canada with this Title!

Amanda had Boone and Wicca entered:
Boone ran in 3 classes and he did great! Amanda was proud of his progress!

Wicca was awesome, he just had 5 faults in her standards and brought home a Q in Masters Team with the fastest time (with her partner Gyp), and an awesome Advanced Jumpers Run and 1st and Q, with a time 5 seconds faster than the 2 second place dog.

AAC Changes for the New Year

Everyone needs to take notice of the upcoming changes to the AAC program for the new year. I have bolded the most important info.

AAC Board Meeting Highlights
November 14 - 16, 2008

More Challenge
The Board is excited to introduce to the AAC mix a new game that recognizes competitors' calls for increased variety and challenge in course design, more emphasis on "on-the-day" competition and a serious nod to the sorts of handling technicalities seen in international competition.

The class, to be called the AAC Challenge, will be open to dogs competing at the Masters level in Standard classes. Required equipment will be the same as in Standard courses with the possible addition of the table and/or broad jump, but course design will emphasize more technical handling challenges than would be seen in a Standard or Steeplechase class. Judges, competitors and course approvers will be consulted in the process of establishing design criteria in the coming months.

To add an element of strategic, on-the-day competitiveness, for the purposes of qualifying the standard course time will be determined after each height class runs by multiplying the fastest clean-run time achieved in that height class by 1.2. The Masters Challenge Dog of Canada title will be awarded to dogs earning ten Challenge Qs under at least two different judges. Additionally, Challenge Qs will count toward the games Q totals required for the post-ATChC titles.

More Options
Effective January 1, 2009, Team Relay will be moved out of the SGDC, AGDC and ATChC requirements and become a title stream unto itself. The Masters Team Relay Dog of Canada will require two Starters, three Advanced and four Masters Team Relay Qs. Masters Team Relay Qs earned prior to or after January 1 will continue to count toward the MTRDC title and the games requirements of the post-ATChC titles.

With the removal of Team, the requirements for the SGDC, AGDC, Masters Games and ATChC titles have been adjusted as follows:

SGDC will require two Qs earned under two different judges in each of Starters Jumpers, Gamblers and Snooker. Moving to Advanced in a given game will require two Starters Qs in that game earned under two different judges.

AGDC will require three Qs under at least two different judges in each of Advanced Jumpers, Gamblers and Snooker. Moving to Masters in a given game will require three Advanced Qs in that game earned under at least two different judges.

Each Masters game title (MJDC, MGDC, MSDC) will require four Masters Qs in that game earned under at least two different judges.

ATChC will require four Masters Qs earned under at least two different judges in each of Jumpers, Gamblers and Snooker plus three Masters Standard Qs earned under at least two different judges

Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards of Merit, along with the Lifetime Achievement Award, will stay the same in terms of the number of standard and games Qs required. AAC Challenge class Qs will count toward the games tally for each of these awards.

These new titles come into effect as of January 1, 2009, and will be awarded retroactively to dogs that have met the requirements. (This, of course, will take some time - please be patient.)

Comprehensive details outlining grandfathering during the transition period will be released within the next few days but, in general, no Qs earned to date will be "lost." Dogs will not have to go back a level to pick up Qs in order to be eligible for the SGDC and AGDC titles but will rather be considered to have met the requirements in a specific game if they are eligible to move up in that game as of January 1, 2009. Details are being finalized and documented. Here, too, please be patient and all will become clear(er) very soon.

More Post-ATChC Titles
Earlier this year, the AAC Think Tank came up with a number of recommendations for post-ATChC titles that recognize expertise in single events and well as versatility across the range of skills tested in AAC classes. These include "Expert" awards for each game and "Versatility" awards recognizing a combination of skills.

For each Masters class (Standard, Jumpers, Snooker, Gamblers, Team Relay):

Losing Letters
Effective January 1, 2009, Specials and Veterans titles will no longer carry the "S" and "V" designations. An ATChC is an ATChC is an ATChC, and the same goes for all of the other titles. This change recognizes the fact that, in many cases, titles are earned with qualifying scores accumulated in a mix of Regular, Specials and Veterans classes.

Even More Options
Handlers running a dog in Specials will have the option to move into Regular classes once during the dog's career. Such a switch will require the handler to notify the AAC via the appropriate Regional Director (a form will be developed and available on the web site), but will not require justification or approval. A switch from Specials to Regular cannot be made mid-trial.

Junior Handlers
The Junior Handlers program will be expanded to allow juniors to run in and earn qualifying scores in all classes, including games. As is currently the case, juniors will have veteran times and may run at a height lower than that at which the dog normally competes, and can accumulate their qualifying scores with different dogs. To earn JH titles, juniors must enter under their JH ID number as opposed to that of the dog they are running. Juniors running for JH Qs at a given trial may not also run for "dog Qs" at the same trial, and no dog will be permitted to run the same course twice. (That is, a dog cannot run in a class under his dog ID number with a non-junior handler and also run the same class with a junior handler showing under a JH number.)

Trial Hosting Issues
To update the rule book to reflect common practice, a number of changes to the trial hosting section will be made. These include allowing for the acceptance of entries after a trial's closing date if the trial has not filled, allowing for electronically posted confirmations provided each competitor is sent an e-mail notifying them of when confirmation information has been posted and where it can be found, and removing the requirement that all dogs must be checked in. Competitors must have their dog ID cards with them, but do not necessarily have to be checked in if (a) the card is complete (i.e., a final measurement has been obtained) and (b) the competitor has previously competed at a trial hosted by the same club. Judges and/or clubs may ask to see ID cards at their discretion. Competitors are encouraged check their confirmations to ensure that all of their information (and in particular their dog ID number) has been entered correctly.

Also, although the AAC does not specify restrictions on training equipment allowable at trial sites, competitors are reminded that host clubs are free to impose on-site bans on such things as choke or pinch collars, shock or bark collars, and so on.

Clubs and judges will now be responsible for on-site verification of course times so that errors can be caught during the trial rather than weeks later when courses are sent back to course approvers. A standardized form will be developed to make this process as straightforward as possible.

Non-sanctioned Events at Sanctioned Trials
Host clubs and competitors are reminded of an existing rule that prevents the running of non-sanctioned events at AAC-sanctioned trials unless a number of conditions are met, namely that no food, toys or corrections are allowed in the ring for dogs also entered in the sanctioned part of the trial, that dogs entered in the non-sanctioned classes are sound and more than 18 months of age (i.e., otherwise eligible to compete), that non-sanctioned classes are held either before the first or after the last sanctioned event of the trial, and that if non-sanctioned classes (e.g., a fun run or ring time) are held before the first sanctioned event of the trial, course maps for sanctioned events are not posted or distributed until after the non-sanctioned event. Clubs that do not comply with these requirements risk jeopardizing any and all Qs earned at the trial.

Rules of Play and Equipment Issues

Chute: The fabric portion of the chute/collapsed tunnel will be shortened from 12 to 8 feet as measured from the point of attachment to the opening to maintain the closed-tunnel challenge while lessening the likelihood of dogs getting caught or tangled. This change will be acceptable starting in January 2009 and mandatory as of July 1, 2009. Additionally, as of 2009, the chute will no longer be used in Regionals or Nationals courses.

Contact obstacles: Starting in January 2009, host clubs will have the option to use contact obstacles coated in a specific rubberized compound, details of which will be released shortly. Clubs using contact obstacles with this rubberized coating must inform competitors that they are doing so in their premium lists. Feedback from competitors, clubs and judges will be sought to determine the effectiveness of this coating in the improvement of footing and safety. All other elements of these obstacles will remain the same, including slats as specified in the rule book.

Weave poles: The Board gave careful consideration to the recommendations of the Standing Rules Committee concerning weave poles and determined that more information ought to be sought prior to making a decision about increasing the distance between poles; however, it was decided that, effective January 1, 2009, poles spaced at less than 20" apart on centre will not be acceptable for use in AAC-sanctioned trials. Similarly, stick-in-the- ground poles will not longer be permitted.

As of January 1, 2009, weave poles will no longer be permitted in Masters Jumpers courses.

Also, as of July 1, 2009, striping on weave poles must be painted rather than taped to lessen the chance of injury as dogs push through the poles.

Gamble times: The time allowed for the closing sequence in gamblers will be two seconds longer for mini dogs than for open dogs. This change makes an optional time difference mandatory.

Gamble challenges: Course approvers will now have a set of guidelines governing the number and mix of challenges allowable in closing gambles.

Bylaws
All bylaw changes must be voted on by the membership. As part of a significant updating of the Association' s bylaws, the Board made a number of recommendations for the consideration of members. These include:

More Representation: To more closely approximate the proportion of AAC members in the seven Regions, the Board will recommend to members that Ontario be divided into three geographical Regions defined by postal code and that British Columbia be divided into two Regions (mainland/Yukon and Vancouver Island). Each of these new Regions would be represented by a Regional Director, adding two Ontario Directors (for a total of three) and one BC Director (for a total of two) to the Board. Each of these new Regions would then have the option of hosting a Regional Championship limited to competitors residing in the Region.

Fewer Executive Positions: In light of the addition of three Regional Directors and the fact that many of the duties traditionally handled by Executive Directors have been assumed by staff, the Board will also recommend the amalgamation of the positions of Treasurer and Recording/Correspon ding Secretary, thereby reducing the size of the Executive by one position.

Staggered Elections: To enhance continuity and ease the transition between outgoing and incoming Board members, the Board will recommend that an election be held every year (rather than every two) and that half the positions on the Board be open for election each year. Terms would remain at two years once a transition election sets things up for staggering subsequent elections.

Board, Administrative Issues and Staff
To address the vastly expanded and complex needs of the AAC with respect to financial, legal and reporting/audit requirements as well as the increasingly heavy workload associated with administering the day-to-day operations of the Association, the Board has identified the need to hire a permanent part-time Financial Services Officer. A subcommittee of the Board has been established to fine-tune a job description, advertise the position to AAC members, evaluate applications and make a candidate recommendation to the Board.

Because Directors have also experienced an expanded workload as the Association has grown, the Board voted to introduce a number of measures that will ensure Directors are not penalized financially for carrying out their volunteer duties.

As well, a subcommittee of Board members has been struck to examine the feasibility of updating the AAC's database to better serve the needs of members, staff and directors.

Regionals and Nationals
Points: To qualify to compete at the 2009 AAC National Championship, dogs must earn a Regional aggregate score of 350 or more points.

Competitors who apply and are approved to run in a Regionals other than their own will now be able to continue to run in classes remaining after they have earned the points required to qualify, but are not eligible for placements. Their score will be recorded as 350.

Competition (the "double-drop" issue): At Regionals and Nationals, veteran dogs competing two jump heights below their regular height will be scored and placed separately from dogs competing one height lower than their regular height. This will create three additional veterans divisions for the purposes of placements:

6" divisions
A. dogs under 12" tall jumping 6" (mini time)
B. dogs between 12 and 16" tall jumping 6" (mini time)

10" divisions
A. dogs between 12 and 16" tall jumping 10" (mini time)
B. dogs between 16 and 21" tall jumping 10" (open time)

16" divisions
A. dogs between 16 and 21" tall jumping 16" (open time)
B. dogs over 21" tall jumping 16" (open time)

22" division
dogs over 21" tall jumping 22" (open time)

Timer malfunction: At Regionals/Nationals only, if a dog has a clean run but cannot be assigned a time due to a malfunction of equipment or timer error, the handler will be given the option to run again with a blank slate (i.e., both faults and time from the rerun count) or to refuse a rerun, accepting instead a score equivalent to a clean run with a time equal to the standard course time.

2009 Nationals: The Board spent considerable time discussing the form and flavour of the Nationals next year and into the future. The Ottawa group's bid to host the event in 2009 was granted conditional acceptance, with a few issues left to sort out over the next few days. Details will be forthcoming shortly.

Communications Strategy
The Board approved a multifaceted communications strategy designed to ensure members will receive regular updates on all matters related to the rules, activities, programs and future of the Association. Among the components of this approach are a substantial upgrading of the quantity and organization of information on the AAC web site, regular e-newsletters sent to members, downloadable handbooks for competitors, judges and host groups, and a comprehensive annual report. A mailing going out to members in January will include the annual report, ballots and background information related to the proposed bylaw changes, financial statements, updated rule book pages, and a membership survey covering a range of topics including jump heights, Nationals and other issues.

Annual General Meeting
The 2008 AGM will be held on December 13 at Royackers in Ariss, Ontario. As has been the case in the past, this will be a brief meeting conducted to meet the Association' s reporting requirements. Details will be available on the web site shortly.

The Last Agility Trial of the Year ...

Calgary Agility Association hosted their November trial this weekend.

Kim, Jolayne, Judy, Amanda and Sarah went up for the day Saturday, and Jan and Dave stayed both days.

Lets start with the BIGGEST news!
Jazmin got her last Q for her Masters Agility Dog Title!! And to top it off, she ran with the "regular" dog times - and she is a Veteran. At 10.5 years young, she didn't even need those extra 15 seconds Veteran dogs get! Way to go Judy and Jazmin!!

Jolayne and Tag are quickly becoming quite the team too. Tag 1st and Qd in Advanced Gamblers, and they made their Snooker debut in style, with a 1st and Q, running it in 34 seconds, you get 55 to complete it.

Kim and Maggie had a great day too! Maggie was spunky to say the least and Kim had to really run to keep up with her, and to top if off with all that speed she didn't knock any bars or miss any contacts, Kim's goals were achieved!

Kim's Bosley made his debut in Starters Gamblers, and did great! He even managed to get the Final Gamble at the end!

Amanda had Wicca and Boone entered in two runs each. Both dogs had a great time, little Boone's tail wags the whole time on course, and miss Wicca was a little pushy so she had some friendly reminders on course, that contacts are to be stuck as well as startlines!!

Sarah ran Gyp and K in three runs each, they each came home with a Masters Gamblers Q, and had some other nice runs too, both dogs ran great all day!

Jan and Dave had a good weekend with Pearl and BB too, Pearl got a Masters Q in Snooker and Standard and BB got a Masters Standard Q. On Sunday, BB didn't get enough points in the opening gamble, but had a smokin perfect final gamble!

Training Troop results

Training Troop puts a great trial a ton of runs and we were done at 6:30 on Saturday and 4:30 on Sunday, it was great!

Wendy and Coulee made the trip and Coulee Qd in Starters Jumpers and had some really nice handling moments by Wendy, they are really coming together as a team. Coulee got better and better as the weekend went on!

BB had some nice runs and Jan was happy with the challenges on course she was able to try. She was spunky for most of the weekend and jan did a great job handling her on some tough courses!

Pearl Qd in Masters Standard and had a huge improvement in her weaves this weekend and some nice handling moments by Dave. Dave won the Masters award for his memorable fall with BB coming over the finish line, we were glad he wasn't hurt - but we still laughed :)

Jolayne and Tag had an amazing weekend and brought home 4 Qs! Tag Q'd in all Standards! 2 Starters Standard on Saturday for his Starters Title - ADC, and moved up to Advanced on Sunday and Qd in his first time in Advanced! He also go his first Q in Steeplechase, placing 6th in a class of 20! What a team, he was controlled at 100mph and Jolayne did a great job handling in her runs.

Boone and Amanda had a great weekend, Boone was entered in 4 runs and Qd in Advanced Gamblers and Starters Standard. He was happy all weekend in all of his runs and has made huge improvements in the areas Amanda has been working on.

Sarah had Jane entered in 5 runs and she Qd in all of her 3 Masters Standard runs. She got freaked out by something in Steeplechase and I didn't know at the time if it was physical so we left the ring and it took a while to get her back to normal, she seemed fine physically, and she ended on a good note and ran her last Standard in jane style!!! So I was glad whatever bothered her she was able to overcome.

Sarah and Kaleb had a great weekend, K was entered in 6 runs and brought home 4Qs. He Qd in Masters Standard x 2 and got another Team Q and a Snooker Q, he was spunky all weekend and handled well too!!

Sarah and Gyppie had fun too! Gyp didn't lose confidence all weekend - even when Sarah had a couple bad handling moments ugh! Gyp just went with it. She brought home 3Qs and firsts places: Masters Standard, Steeplechase and Jumpers. She had some other great runs and I was able to challenge and test our skills and I was thrilled about that!

We all had a great time in Medicine Hat this past weekend- and Go Dog Go kicked some serious butt :o)

Maggie - Had an amazing weekend- she earned her Starters Jumpers Q and her Starters Game Dog Title, and an Advanced Snooker Q! We've discovered that Maggie runs best when wet :o)

Tag - Had a stellar weekend and was calm (well as calm as Tag can be) and controlled (se previous brackets) Just 5 and 10 faults in his standards and the fastest time in Starters Jumpers - had a bar down for 5 faults, he was awesome all
weekend!

Pearl - a Q in Masters Standard and Masters Jumpers. She had a great Steeplechase run aswell- Dave was running faster than I've seen in a long time!

BB - was feeling great all weekend and Qd in Masters Snooker. She had great weaves and had a nice jumpers round as well.

Kaleb ran in 6 and Qd in 5, Masters Standard it was his 25th!!!

Wicca -earned her first Masters Standard Q - with the fastest time overall (beating those border collies)! She also managed to earn yet another Masters Gamble Q- she had to be pulled from the trial when she started limping after hurling herself around a jumpers course.

The next trial is a one day event in Calgary- this will be Coulee's first trial away from home, and Vito's debut!

Kim, Maggie and Bosley had a fantastic trip to their Bernese National Specialty in Saskatoon!

Maggie finsihed her Novice CKC Agility Title, she got a Q in Advanced Jumpers with Weaves and a Q in Advaned Rally.

Bosley was entered in his first 3 Novice Obedience runs and finished his CD in those three runs! With a HIGH in CLASS, HIGH BERNESE in SPECIALTY and YOUNGEST DOG ENTERED! He also got Best of Oppisite in the Altered Conformation Class and a Q in Advanced Rally too!

KIMBERLEY B.C. Agility Trial:
We had a great time and all of the dogs did awesome! Such a beautiful venue, we hope more of the group goes next year!

- Jazmin got her second Masters Standard Q and a Q in Advanced Team with Lucy! She was entered in 5 runs and did great in all of them!

- Lucy and Lynne had a great weekend! Lucy brought home Qs in Advanced Team, Advanced Standard and Starters Snooker - to finish her STARTERS GAME DOG TITLE, and Lucy was also chosen for the Judge's Choice Award!

We are back from our AAC Nationals, in Sussex New Brunswick, and I'm glad to be home and we return with great news! It was Kaleb, Gyp and Wicca's (and Amanda's) first National, I am so proud of them!

YAHOOOO!!! All of our dogs reached the podium, they get these fancy medals for finished top 10 in their divisions! There were 500 handlers from all over Canada and USA entered.

We will have the videos here too - hopefully in the next day or two!!!!!

ON A SIDE NOTE: Yesterday was the longest day of my life, we left Sussex (10am - 7am Alberta time) and drove to Halifax and spent the day on the harbour front and it was great fun!!!!! The day totalled: 8 hours of driving, explosive diarrhea (Kaleb's not mine) a 5 hour flight, a now dead coyote near Nanton, an Insurance claim to come for my car, 2 energy drinks, and finally arriving at my front door at 2:30am. And two cranky bitches ... and I don't mean the tri-coloured ones ....

I am REALLY REALLY happy to be home, but it was an amazing trip and the best national I have been too!!!! Here are the final results:
